What ReferMeAJob collects, what it deliberately does not, and what happens to your information when you click through to apply.
Last updated 2 October 2026
1.What we collect
We record a small set of anonymous events as you use the site:
- Which pages and job listings are viewed
- Which searches are run
- Which listings are clicked through to the partner site
- Whether you came from the website or the Android app, and the app version
- Standard analytics data collected by Google Analytics, including approximate location (country or city level), device type and browser
Each event carries a random session identifier that is generated in your browser or app and is not linked to any real-world identity. It resets when your session ends.
2.What we do not collect
- No name, email address, phone number or postal address
- No CV, résumé or application content
- No account — there is nothing to sign up for
- No data sold or shared with advertisers or data brokers
- No advertising or remarketing audiences built from your visit
3.When you click “Apply” — and how we are funded
Applying takes you to our hiring partner, OptimHire, or to the employer’s own site. We record only that a click happened and which listing it was for. Anything you enter after that — personal details, your CV, an application — is collected by them under their privacy policy, which you should read. We never see it, and we cannot retrieve, correct or delete it on your behalf.
For transparency about our commercial relationship: we may receive a referral fee from our hiring partner if an application leads to a placement. This costs you nothing, and it does not influence which listings we show, how we order them, or what we tell you about them.
4.Storage and retention
Event data is stored in Cloudflare D1. Individual events are aggregated into daily totals and the raw rows are automatically deleted after 90 days. We keep only the aggregates after that.
5.Cookies, analytics and local storage
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages are visited, which searches are run, and which listings people click. Google sets its own cookies to do this, and may process that data on servers outside your country under Google’s privacy policy.
We do not use these tools for advertising or remarketing, and we do not build audience lists from your visit. You can block them with any standard content blocker or browser tracking protection; the site works normally without them.
Separately, the site stores a random session identifier in your browser’s session storage so page views within one visit count as a single session. It is cleared when you close the tab.
6.The Android app
The app records the same anonymous events as the website. If you are offline, events are held on your device and sent when you reconnect. The app requests only internet access. It does not ask for your contacts, location, camera or files.
7.Your rights
Because we hold no information that identifies you, there is normally nothing personal to access, correct or erase. For data held about an application you submitted, contact OptimHire or the employer, who are the controllers of that information.
8.Changes
If this policy changes materially, the “last updated” date will change and the revised version will be published here.
