About the role
About DealLoop:
DealLoop is building proactive real-time meeting intelligence. Think Jarvis for your calls and
meetings. Unlike post-call analytics tools, we provide live transcription, contextual insights, and
proactive guidance while conversations happen. We're a small team (2 engineers) with paying
customers pulling features faster than we can ship them, and we're looking to grow the team.
The Role:
We're looking for a Product Engineer to increase our shipping velocity. You'll own features end-to-end, from scoping with the founders to shipping to production. This isn't a role where you'll be handed detailed specs and asked to implement them. You'll have ideas, run with them, and see them through. Our co-founder Will (ex-Amazon, led several engineering teams on internal HR / PillPack) owns
architecture and infrastructure. You'll work directly with him, taking technically-scoped problems and executing across the full stack.
What You'll Do:
- Build and ship full-stack features autonomously
- Work across our desktop app (Wails/Go), backend services (Go), and frontend (TypeScript)
- Collaborate directly with founders to scope and prioritize work
- Move fast, break things thoughtfully, and iterate based on real user feedback
Tech Stack:
- Desktop: Wails (Go-based Electron alternative)
- Backend: Go
- Frontend: TypeScript
- Infrastructure: AWS, CDK
- Vanilla stack, single cloud (no hodgepodge of random tooling)
Experience:
1-3 years of software engineering experience. We're not looking for 10-year veterans with strong opinions about how things should be done. We’re looking for up and comers who can execute.
Technical depth over logos:
We care more about whether you can go deep on why you made technical decisions than where you went to school or which companies you've worked at. Some of the best engineers we've worked with come from overlooked backgrounds.
Full-stack capability:
You should be comfortable working across frontend and backend. Go experience is a plus but not required. Strong engineers pick it up quickly.
Good judgment:
We're looking for someone who can eventually own decisions in their domain. If we're constantly overruling you, that's a sign it's not working. You should have substantiated opinions! Opinions are a sign that you care.
Low ego:
The person closest to the problem is entrusted to make the call, not the most senior person. Experience doesn't equal authority here.
Interview Process:
- Intro call (15 - 20 min): Resonance check. We'll ask "why" a lot.
- Technical screen: Live coding, no AI. Talk us through your thinking.
- “Onsite”: We'll onboard you to the codebase and give you a small, scoped task. Build it, ship it, explain your decisions.
