As a Payroll Specialist at Elevance , you will be the backbone of our compensation operations, ensuring that every employee is paid accurately and on time while maintaining strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will collaborate closely with the Human Resources and Finance teams, processing payroll data, reconciling accounts, and resolving any discrepancies with a focus on detail and confidentiality. Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in payroll processing, with a strong understanding of payroll cycles and tax withholdings.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity) and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with employees and cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly, bi‑weekly, and monthly payroll runs for all eligible employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and benefit deductions.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, W‑2s, and other regulatory reports in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of payroll data to identify and correct discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay statements, deductions, and tax withholdings, providing clear explanations.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to integrate payroll data into budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of payroll systems and automation tools to improve efficiency.
  • Stay current on changes to payroll legislation and best practices, recommending updates to internal policies as needed.
