Job Title: MicroStrategy BI Developer

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with the MicroStrategy platform: Hands-on expertise in developing BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using MicroStrategy.
  • Strong SQL skills: Ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and BI concepts: Strong understanding of business intelligence methodologies and analytical reporting.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with business users and technical teams.
  • Understanding of data warehousing principles: Knowledge of dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas, and best practices in data architecture.

Core Responsibilities

1. Design and Development

  • Create and implement MicroStrategy BI solutions including dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Ensure that BI deliverables provide actionable insights aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop interactive and user-friendly interfaces within MicroStrategy for self-service analytics.

2. Requirements Gathering

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data and reporting needs.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical specifications for MicroStrategy development.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to ensure data availability and integrity.

3. Data Analysis and SQL

  • Perform complex data analysis to support business intelligence requirements.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries and data models to extract, transform, and load data for reporting purposes.
  • Validate data accuracy and consistency across multiple data sources.

4. Maintenance and Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve MicroStrategy-related issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Provide technical support and enhancements for existing BI applications.
  • Maintain MicroStrategy metadata (attributes, facts, hierarchies, metrics, filters, prompts, etc.).
  • Ensure data governance and version control within the BI environment.

5. Documentation

  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation for BI design, development, and deployment processes.
  • Create end-user guides and technical manuals for knowledge sharing and support purposes.

Additional Information

  • Work Arrangement: Onsite (required to work from the Katy, Houston office).
  • Reporting To: BI/Analytics Lead or Project Manager (implied by typical CTS structure).
  • Engagement Type: Full-time or contract, depending on project assignment (rate-based).
